Woman Goes Viral on TikTok After Saying She Makes Her Own Reusable Toilet Paper

Being low-waste is usually a good thing, but can it go too far? Some TikTok users think this is the case with the habits of Pennsylvania TikToker Ali Hall.

Hall, whose TikTok username is @tiny_waste, shared various TikToks depicting how she creates her own toilet paper out of old pajamas she has lying around the house. Hall posted one TikTok in particular where she details her toilet paper procedures. In the video, Hall showcases a basket of hand-made wipes and reveals that after using the cloth wipes, she throws them in a wastebasket, in which all the contents will soon go into the wash.

TikTok User’s Unusual Bathroom Habits

In the video, Hall can be heard saying “When I use the bathroom, I let the bidet do all the heavy lifting, pat dry with a clean wipe, and then put the used wipe in this bin which will eventually go into the laundry.” She also says that no cloth wipe is ever reused before going into the wash, before adding “I personally love cloth toilet paper because it’s sturdier and softer on my bum.”

In the same TikTok, which was a response to a comment from TikTok user caw0528 that read “What in the f*** is a family cloth,” Hall revealed that her husband does not prefer to use the “family cloth,” so she provides him with a roll of traditional toilet paper. After The New York Post reached out to Hall for comment, she responded with an email that revealed that her family will use any kind of reusable product they can get their hands on in order to protect the environment.

In her email to The New York Post, Hall wrote “Cloth toilet paper is just one of many ways my household has reduced waste, in this case, paper waste. (But don’t worry, we still have an abundance of toilet paper made from recycled material for guests!).”

Many other TikTok users have reacted in shock or horror to Hall’s posts. One comment read  “You’ll never convince me to do this,” while another stated “Nooooooooooooo. all those germs are going into your washer, living there, spreading to ALL laundered items.”

Another rather humorous comment read “Very cool to lessen your waste but I def couldn’t use cloth with my IBS it would be far too much of a mess.”

Healthline revealed their knowledge of this practice, stating that if the reusable cloth is not washed at very high temperatures and with bleach, it could pose a threat, including the invitation for E. coli to enter the body.
