In a new cover feature in Cosmopolitan, actress Hillary Duff opened up about her recent divorce from Mike Comrie and ex-boyfriend Aaaron Carter’s public declaration of love on Twitter.

“It wasn’t working well enough to stay together, but there was still a lot of love involved,” Duff said of her marriage to Comrie, with whom she has a child.

“It was just a slow set-in of us not being the match that we used to be. I’m lucky for the person he is and I am, and how we decided to handle this.”

Looking back on the four years, that they were married, Duff isn’t so sure that there is such a thing as true love anymore.

“I just always want to fight for happiness,” she said.

In recent years, Duff’s childhood sweetheart Aaron Carter has made headlines for his Twitter love messages to Duff, something the former Disney star thinks is plain ole weird.

“Him reaching out through social media? It’s ridiculous!” she said.

“But then people do it all the time, like Chris Brown and Karrueche? Come on, guys. Keep it between text messages.”
