Fox is promising an explosive new season of its procedural series 9-1-1. The network debuted a heart-stopping promo of the program on Monday.

The sneak peek of 9-1-1 appears to show a blimp about to crash-land in a soccer stadium. The premiere is on September 19. Marking their return to the show are stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Jennifer Love Hewitt, among others.
“An emergency is the absence of choice, robbing us of our safety,” the narrator of the preview says.
Afterward, the phrase “Disaster comes from above” flashes across the screen; over a cover of Phil Collins’ In the Air Tonight.

The 411 On 9-1-1
Fox green-lit a sixth season of 9-1-1 in May. The show follows first responders. It highlights LAPD patrol sergeant Athena Grant-Nash (Bassett), LAFD captain Robert “Bobby” Nash (Krause), and 911 operator Maddie Buckley (Hewitt).
“The series [focuses] on the real-life, high-pressure experiences of emergency response providers who are thrust into heart-stopping situations that are equal parts unpredictable, intense and uplifting,” according to promotional material for the show.
9-1-1 executive producer Kristen Reide spoke with TVLine about the show in an interview published Monday.
Discussing 9-1-1’s fifth season, which ended with a vow renewal ceremony between two of the show’s characters.
“There’s something [Tim Minear] and I both like about going out on a happy note,” Reidel said, mentioning fellow one of the other executive producers of the show. “It’s a little freeing going forward into the next season. You’re not beholden to a lot of stuff. You can take the time and think about what stories you want to tell with the characters now, and where you want to start them, without feeling like you have this laundry list of things to deal with.”
The network has yet to announced the number of episodes in the sixth season of 9-1-1. Previous seasons have included between 10 to 18.
The first and third seasons of the show raked in more than 10 million viewers. Meanwhile, both the second and fourth seasons drew more than 9 million viewers. Finally, Season 5 attracted slightly more than 8 million.
