Michael J. Fox has proudly presented his family’s latest addition. The 61-year-old actor took to Instagram on Monday to introduce his new, charming pup named Blue to his followers. Alongside a picture of himself holding Blue and gazing at the camera, Fox penned, “Welcome to your new home, Blue!”

Julianne Moore went on to swoon over the pup in the comment section, writing, “Oh my gosh!! So cute 🥰” while Ali Wentworth wrote “THIS IS CRAZY NUTS! What a gorgeous girl! Tell her Auntie Ali can’t wait to play…”
The actor’s wife of 35 years, Tracy Pollan, went on to share a cute video of the pup playing with a fellow dog on her Instagram story.
“Best friends,” she wrote over the adorable clip. The couple’s new addition comes two years after he sadly said bye to his dog, Gus, in April 2021. Fox announced the sad news with a photo of the 12-year-old dog on his Instagram at the time. “Gus — great dog and loyal friend, we’ll miss you,” he wrote.
Welcome, Blue!!
Throughout Fox’s ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease, Gus had been a loyal companion to him. In his memoir, Fox referred to the Great Dane-Labrador mix as a “wonder dog” for his unwavering support and for being a constant source of comfort during his health struggles.
“I didn’t rescue Gus,” the actor stated. “You can argue that he rescued me, but he’d be too modest to make that claim.”
During the CBS primetime special “The Pet Project” in November 2020, Fox spoke about the profound impact Gus had on his life.” You know that no matter your situation, no matter what you feel, this animal is with you and is connected to you, and you feel,” Fox stated, who went public with his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 1998.
“It’s a force multiplier.”
“Your instinct when you have a chronic illness is to sometimes isolate and make your world as small as possible so you don’t have much to deal with, but a dog will open you up,” he explained.
When Fox had to relearn how to walk after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor from his spinal cord in 2018, Gus played an especially vital role in his life. The Family Ties actor shared that when he returned home from the hospital in a wheelchair, Gus was waiting for him by the door.
“He kind of circles the wheelchair with this low kind of woof woof, woof woof, and sat in front of the wheelchair right in front of me, and looked at me, and I said, ‘It’s going to be okay.'”
