Changes, ever present, on the set of ‘The Neighborhood’ are about to make another appearance to the CBS hit for Season 5.

The show was recently renewed but it will need a new executive leading the charge — and the writing room.
Meg DeLoatch, the current EP and showrunner, has announced that she is no longer with the program. Deadline first reported the move, but it is the ripple effect that is going to be noticed by viewers.
DeLoatch first joined the series in June 2021 — taking over for former executive producer, and creator Jim Reynolds — where she made sweeping changes, firing the entire writing staff (save for one person) to complete all of Season 4.
This is not the first time there will be a rift with the program, however. It was first alleged that CBS Studios dealt with complaints about Reynolds which involved “race-related issues” which seemingly surfaced from two Black writers who left the show after Season 3. Deadline claimed at the time that Reynolds decided to leave in the timeframe that CBS Studios was set to come to the conclusion to replace him.
He released a statement at the time offering a bland remark and hollow optimism.
“I am very proud of The Neighborhood and have given everything of myself over the last three years to make this the best show possible,” Reynolds released. “I am so happy that the show has found such an enthusiastic audience and that it will live on. At this moment, in light of everything going on in the world, I had concluded that I am not the right person to continue to tell these stories. I am excited to see the show thrive and wish everyone involved the very best.”
The show was recently renewed and CBS stated, “We’re thrilled to bring back television’s four most-watched comedies for next season, and I’m proud of the incredible team that maintains CBS’ position as the clear leader in comedy.”
Where the show goes from here will be largely dependent on who takes over this role.
