The actor, who’s now called “Salma Hayek Pinault” (her husband is French businessman François-Henri Pinault), told Deadline last week that Angelina Jolie takes the cake. Hayek Pinault spoke about having just wrapped shooting on a new movie called Without Blood that finds Jolie behind the camera.

“We just finished it,” Hayek Pinault splurged to Deadline about the film, which started shooting in June. “Angelina is the best director I’ve ever worked with. I absolutely loved working with her; enjoyed every second of it.”

Hayek Pinault elaborated that part of the reason she considers Jolie the best director with whom she’s worked is the challenge of turning bestselling Italian novel Without Blood into a film. The movie, starring Hayek Pinault, doesn’t have a release date yet.

“It’s a tough piece but it was so delicious to come to work every single day,” Hayek Pinault said. “She is a genius and I think this might be her best movie yet. She did an amazing job, really.”

Without Blood, which Jolie also wrote and produced, will mark her fifth directorial effort. Past works include 2011’s In the Land of Blood and Honey, which she also wrote; and Unbroken, the 2014 war film that earned three Academy Award nominations.

Salma Hayek’s Tribute To Naomi Judd

In other Salma Hayek Pinault news, the actor recently participated in the tribute to the late Naomi Judd that CMT broadcast live shortly after her death.

The Judd daughters welcomed country stars and other celebrities to Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium – home of the Grand Ole Opry – for Naomi Judd: A River of Time Celebration.

Hayek — along with Bono, Oprah Winfrey, Reba McEntire, and others — was one of the mega-stars who gave a pre-taped testimonial that played at the event.
