In recent months, the music community has rallied around this husband and wife team after Joey received a terminal cancer diagnosis.
“The courage that they as a family have displayed — it’s inspirational,” Shelton told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s sad, but it’s special at the same time.”
According to Shelton, he didn’t get a chance to spend much time with the country duo prior to Joey’s diagnosis, but sympathizes with their horrible plight.
“I never really got to know [Rory] that well,” Shelton said.
He noted that Rory Feek wrote a No.1 hit for him with 2004’s “Some Beach.”
“He was always just someone I kinda knew. But to see what they’re going through as a family and what’s happening with Joey, what can you say?”
