MSNBC host Reverend Al Sharpton doubled down on his prior claims that Hollywood is prejudice against African Americans on Thursday only hours after it was revealed that no black actors had been nominated for an Academy Award.

Sharpton, who has said that Hollywood is “like the Rocky Mountains, the higher you get, the whiter it gets,” drew comparisons between the African American shutout and the 2014 protests in Ferguson, Missouri.
“In the time of Staten Island and Ferguson, to have one of the most shutout Oscar nights in recent memory is something that is incongruous,” Sharpton told the New York Daily News.
“The only category we’re well represented is in the best picture nomination and it’s a movie about blacks being shut out of society. And now we’re shut out of Hollywood.”
