Members of the Chicago Police Department escorted about a dozen girls who do not have fathers in their lives to the department’s first “Daddy Daughter Dance,” WMAQ reported.
Girls, dads and police officers were dressed to impress for the free formal event while police broke down barriers, showing that, as WMAQ described it, “policing is more than just walking a beat.”

Chicago Police, along with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, planned the dance they hope to make an annual event.
