This rock band put its freedom front and center by telling Indiana to shove it

Rock band Wilco became the first major label act to cancel a performance in Indiana following Governor Mike Pence’s decision to sign a bill that allows business owners to deny services to gay people.

“We are canceling our May 7 show at the Murat in Indianapolis. The ‘Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act’ feels like thinly disguised legal discrimination to us,” the band wrote in a statement.

“Hope to get back to the Hoosier State someday soon, when this odious measure is repealed. Refunds available at point of purchase,” it added.

The band, which is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary tour, garnered praise on social media for its statement.
