A video taken by a college student at New York University (NYU) as the attacks on the Twin Towers happened on September 11, 2001 are re-surfacing 15 years later. The video, taken by then-NYU student Caroline Dries.

The video recalls the utter confusion, shock and disbelief that shook the city initially, before gripping the entire country in grief.

It was of course then made clear that two planes were hijacked by al Qaeda terrorists that flew the planes directly into the towers in downtown New York City. As part of the coordinated attacks, a third plane was hijacked and flown into the side of the Pentagon, and a fourth plane’s hijack attempts were thwarted by passengers on the plane, with the plane eventually crashing in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
