Seth Meyers put the president-elect on blast for his attacks on John Lewis

The John Lewis and Donald Trump feud has been boiling over for the past few days. Left-leaning pundits argue that the president-elect’s claim that Lewis is “all talk” is a complete dismissal of the congressman’s history in fighting for civil rights, while those on the right say Trump’s statement had nothing to do with civil rights.

In his monologue Monday night, left-leaning host Seth Meyers broke down the argument, saying “If you’re wondering to assume that Lewis’ district is ‘crime infested’ and ‘falling apart’ just because he’s black, the answer is a hard yes.”

Meyers then turned the heat on the Republicans, who claim that Lewis’ statement that he doesn’t see Trump as a legitimate president is absurd. He pointed out that until a few months ago, Donald Trump pushed the narrative that Barack Obama wasn’t born in the United States.

According to the Trump Twitter Archive, the president-elect hasn’t blasted Seth Meyers since 2014. However, it’s very unlikely Trump will be able to stay silent for his tenure as president.
