After Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Taliban for advocating educating girls in Pakistan, people around the world marveled at her courage. This year she won the Nobel Peace Prize.

But she had some advice for fellow Nobel Peace Prize winner Barack Obama on Tuesday. Addressing U.S. foreign policy, 17-year-old Yousafzai told the president if he’d stop arming other countries, he could “change the world.”

The Obama administration has armed and aided various militant groups in civil wars in Libya, Syria and Iraq. Recently, U.S. weapons ended up in the hands of ISIS in Syria.

Malala relayed a conversation she had with the president. “My message was very simple,” she told MSNBC’s Ronan Farrow. “I said instead of sending guns, send books. Instead of sending weapons, send teachers.”

She also said the president’s response was “pretty political.”
