The founding fathers would be really surprised to discover you celebrate the Fourth of July

John Adams was convinced Americans would celebrate July 2 as the day America declared its independence. July 2 was actually the day 12 of the 13 colonies voted to declare their independence. July 4 was the day they all agreed on the wording of the Declaration of Independence, so that was the day written on the Declaration of Independence. It wasn’t officially signed until August 2, because it needed to be re-written on parchment and with better handwriting.
