After the incident of Baldwin taking the life of crew member, Halyna Hutchins, production paused filming. They are expected to resume sometime this spring.
Understanding Charges
This announcement comes on the heels of the prosecution deciding to drop the firearm enhancement filed against Baldwin for his discharge of the weapon that killed Hutchins. He is now facing the sole charge of manslaughter.
Originally, the enhancement tacked onto the involuntary manslaughter charge came with a mandatory five years in prison. Now, with the enhancement, dismissed, Baldwin is still facing a lesser sentence of up to 18 months if convicted.
A New Team
Joel Souza, the director of the film and an injured victim in the shooting, released a statement regarding the progression of the upcoming movie. “Honoring Halyna means the world to me and our entire production team. The beauty of Montana surpasses words, and the warm hospitality and kindness extended by everyone I’ve met has been both humbling and inspiring. It is a privilege to work with such great partners as we see this through on Halyna’s behalf.”
Souza is one of the four crew members returning for the continuation of the film. Grant Hill will be joined by Matthew Hutchins, the husband of the late Halyna Hutchins, as an executive producer.
Bianca Cline, the cinematographer on that film, will be donating her salary to charity in Halyna’s name as she takes her place in the crew. The production team “will continue to utilize union crew members and will bar any use of working weapons and any form of ammunition,” on set.
Baldwin is set to return to the film as well.
