Most of the thousands who watched the sold-out musical marathon that was Volunteer Jam 2015 on the night of August 12 were still snoring away on the morning of August 13 when 79-year-old Charlie Daniels was already up…tweeting and praying.

To sum up the Volunteer Jam—WOW-PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!
— Charlie Daniels (@CharlieDaniels) August 13, 2015
Praise the Lord indeed Charlie.
Because what Daniels pulled off in Nashville at the recent 40th anniversary celebration of the Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam was no small feat.
Congregating on the stage of Bridgestone Arena was everyone from The Oak Ridge Boys to Lee Greenwood to Wynonna, all to raise both money and support for military veterans and their families along with The Journey Home Project, a non-profit organization co-founded by Daniels and longtime manager David Corlow. Add that to surprise appearances by Eric Church, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jamey Johnson and Southern rock’s finest rising stars Blackberry Smoke, and it was a party indeed.
And the early morning tweet? Well, that was no small feat either.
“I told my son ‘what the hell is a Twitter?’ Daniels quipped onstage Wednesday night.
