Johnny Depp fans were shocked to see him join Jeff Beck onstage Sunday night in a surprise concert appearance. Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck played “Isolation,” by John Lennon, as well as “Little Wing,” by Jimi Hendrix, and “What’s Going On,” by Marvin Gaye.

Depp, who is currently neck-deep in litigation with ex-wife Amber Heard, decided to make the best of the long Memorial Day weekend break. Jurors were given instructions and are taking a break until Tuesday, when they are expected to deliberate and possibly make a decision on the defamation case.
But Depp spent the weekend in his typical rock star style, almost like the litigation isn’t happening at all.
Fans went wild, with most expecting Depp to be sitting at home, sulking, or doing something similarly mundane in the midst of the trial. There were lots of #JusticeForJohnnyDepp hashtags being thrown around.
Many don’t know this, but Depp was actually an aspiring musician before becoming an A-lister in Hollywood. His mother allegedly gave him a guitar when he was 12 and he’s been passionate about playing ever since. Evidently, he’s played with artists and bands like Oasis and Iggy Pop, who used to perform at his Los Angeles nightclub, The Viper Room.
Depp’s surprisingly pretty darn good at playing the guitar. Check out this video from 2015.
Some onlookers aren’t very happy with Depp’s decision to go play with Beck. Eve Barlow posted via Twitter that “Johnny Depp is on tour with Jeff Beck. He played in Sheffield tonight, and will likely play the Royal Albert Hall in London tomorrow and Tuesday. That’s the domestic abuse victim waiting for his defamation case verdict. The one who’s been cancelled.”
Eve continued, “Meanwhile Amber Heard doesn’t have PTSD… Wake up. #IStandWithAmberHeard
We can one thing for certain: Johnny Depp’s obviously still rocking on. As for the looming jury verdict between him and Amber Heard, we’ll have to wait and see.
Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard for $50 million, alleging defamation due to a 2018 Washington Post op-ed that she wrote. Heard claims that she was giving a voice to the phenomenon of speaking out against domestic violence and the cultural wrath that ensues. However, Depp denies being an abuser. Both parties are subsequently alleging abuse.
Heard is countersuing Depp for $100 million. Both parties just spent 6 weeks giving grueling testimony. The jury is set to reconvene on Tuesday when they may or may not reach a decision.
