Jason Aldean’s publicist has officially ditched him after the country music star’s singer, Brittany made a string of transphobic comments. The move comes after numerous social media posts and statements by Brittany Aldean about her stance on gender, which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Nashville publicity firm The Green Room represented Jason Aldean for 17 years. Tyne Parrish, co-owner of the firm, made the following statement to Billboard regarding the split:

“Music has always been and remains The GreenRoom’s core focus, so we had to make the difficult decision after 17 years to step away from representing Jason. We aren’t the best people for the gig anymore but will always be big fans of his music — he is one of the greatest live entertainers in country music.”

Publicist The Green Room Split Comes Right After Aldean’s Transphobic Comments

While The Green Room has not specifically said that the reason for the split is because of Brittany Aldean’s transphobia, the timing seems clear. Brittany initially ruffled feathers when she posted a before and after makeup video on Instagram on August 23. She captioned the video:

“I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life.”

Aldean followed up her post with an Instagram story, in which she clarified her thoughts on gender and transgender youth.

“Advocating for the genital mutilation of children under the disguise of love and calling it ‘gender affirming care’ is one of the worst evils,” Brittany Aldean wrote. “I will always support my children and do what I can to protect their innocence. The other day Memphis wanted to be a dinosaur and tomorrow Navy will want to be a cat. They’re children. Some parents want to be accepted by society so badly that they’re willing to make life-altering decisions for their children who aren’t old enough to fully comprehend the consequences of those actions. Love is protecting your child until they are mature enough as an adult to make their own life decisions. Thankful my parents allowed me to go through my tom boy phase without changing my gender.”

The Public Has Mixed Reactions, Many Offended on Behalf of LGBTQ+ Community

Singer-songwriter Cassadee Pope referred to Brittany Aldean’s statements in a Twitter post.

“You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging. But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their “tomboy phase” to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”

This led to a discussion about Brittany’s apparent transphobia, with some people siding with Pope and others with Aldean. Aldean was referred to as “Insurrection Barbie” (partly because of other political statements and inferences made in the past) and others called Pope out for being irrelevant.

Jason Aldean and his wife have always been outspoken about their political beliefs, which are staunchly Republican. However, it should be noted that it is possible to have any political identity and still support the LGBTQ+ community. Perhaps the answer lies in the fact that we as a society are still learning and evolving.
