The Details: While jewelry and advancing technology offer many benefits, they can also present challenges. One UK man recently shared his experience with such a piece of equipment.
- Daniel Rotar was simply trying to get home after a long day of travelling; however, his smart ring had other plans.
- Rotar shared a post on X announcing that his ring began to swell right before boarding his flight, while still on his finger.
- He was denied boarding due to his ring, and the jewelry mishap landed him in the hospital.
Smart Ring Turns Into A Jewelry Mishap
Many people adore the smart ring. After all, this tiny piece of technology can do so much. Samsung shares that it tracks various aspects of your health, including sleep, heart rate, pulse, and other vital health markers. However, one of their claims seems to have missed the mark.
- On their website, they claim, “Galaxy Ring packs the latest health tracking innovations into a compact design that fits comfortably around your finger.”
- I would argue that Daniel Rotar has something to say about the “comfortbaly” part.
In his posts on X, Rotar details the jewelry mishap. In his first post, he merely shows his finger, now swollen, with the Galaxy ring on top of it. He shares that the swelling started immediately before he boarded his flight.
Bad to Worse: From there, he shared a follow-up post with additional information.
- First, Rotar shares that the jewelry mishap caused him to be denied boarding. Which, after 47 hours straight of travel, could be extremely disheartening.
- Additionally, he was sent to the hospital.
- “Was sent to the hospital, as an emergency,” he wrote on his X post. “Ring got removed. You can see the battery all swollen.”
Photos accompanied his posts, clearly showing the battery had expanded within the ring and caused it to get stuck around his swollen finger. Although it is unclear what caused the swelling, Rotar is clear about one thing.
- He “won’t be wearing a smart ring ever again.”
