13-Year-Old Boy Arrested After Another Boy Falls To Death From Playground Ride: Report

Authorities in the UK have reportedly arrested a 13-year-old boy after another child died falling off a playground ride.

What happened: According to a report by the Guardian, Cheshire Police arrested the teen on Monday on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Authorities have since released him pending an investigation.

  • Officers responded to an incident at Wharton Recreation Ground in Winsford at 6:11 PM on Friday. Medics from the North West ambulance service found 12-year-old Logan Carter seriously injured. The outlet explains that emergency staff treated him at the scene, but he died from his injuries.
  • Police later taped off a roundabout in the park. Per the Guardian, investigators believe Carter was injured when an E-Bike was used to spin the playground ride.

Friends And Family Pay Tribute After The Playground Incident

Police are appealing for witnesses: Cheshire Police posted a brief statement on August 31 confirming Carter’s passing. The statement explains that authorities are asking any witnesses to come forward.

  • “Logan’s family is currently being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time and have since paid tribute to him,” authorities said. One tribute reads, “Logan was a much-loved Son, Brother, Grandson, Great Grandson, Cousin and friend to many. He had an infectious personality and a beautiful smile.”
  • Logan’s father, Rob, posted a message on Facebook, describing his heart as being “ripped in two.” He wrote, ” I will never forget you my mate sleep tight up the and I see you one day at them gates mate love you so much Logan xxx forever 12 xxxx.”
  • A family friend has set up a GoFundMe to raise funds for the parents.

Another avoidable death: A child was shot in Texas over the weekend after he played “ding dong ditch.” It’s a game where you knock on a door and run away before the homeowner answers.

  • Police believe 11-year-old Julian Guzman played the prank at around 11 PM on Saturday. He had reportedly knocked on the door twice already, and the shooting occurred when he tried for the third time.
  • Witnesses say the homeowner fired a warning shot into the ground and then shot at Guzman as he ran away. He later died in the hospital.
  • Authorities charged 42-year-old Gonzalo Leon Jr with murder after the incident. He reportedly failed to comply with officers for 20 minutes when they arrived, and they found an assortment of weapons at the property.
