A crane has self-sabotaged by running over a water line and then falling sideways into a home.

The huge vehicle crane was performing work in Mackeral Avenue, Merrit Island, when disaster struck. Setting itself up, the crane managed to push one of the supporting legs through a water line. Over time, the water began leaking out and softening the ground beneath.
Eventually, the weight of the crane became too much, and it toppled over towards the home of a local resident. The soft ground was unable to hold up the crane, and it began to slip. The crane operator alerted people in the area as the large piece of construction equipment came tumbling down.
Sadly, the home couldn’t be moved, and the crane smashed through it. Thankfully, the homeowner wasn’t in at the time, but he’s still gutted that his house has been obliterated. “My house is destroyed,” The man told a local outlet Click Orlando. “We’ve been in the house for 40 years. I raised my entire family in that house. All my kids grew up there.”
It’s a little ironic that the owner of the home is called Jim Crane.
Crane Crash Causes Water Outage
As well as destroying the home of Jim Crane, the falling machinery also cut off the water supply for the area. More than 80 homes in the Surfside area were left dry, without any warning or expected turn-on time.
“Pretty much everybody in Surfside, this development, is out of water,” a resident said. “Like I said, we can flush the toilets, but we can’t shower.” They hope to have water returned by Thursday, but the damage to both the house and the water line is extensive.
Mr. Crane is devastated by the destruction of his home. He put a lot of work into it, and neighbors have been sharing in his commiserations. “The homeowner is not very happy. He takes a lot of pride in his house. It’s a nice house and he’s been working on it all along,”
He will have to rebuild, but before he claims insurance, he will need to find out who is to blame. The water line was undeclared, so it’s anyone’s guess.
