Most often, when watching a football game, the drama happens during the game. Improper calls, touchdowns by opposing teams, and enraged fans are all things you would expect to see. The Details: Sunday night was an intense night in NFL football.
- The Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Detroit Lions last night.
- The Chiefs beat the Lions 30-17.
- After the game, a fight erupted between two players on the field.
All-Out Brawl Erupts Between Players After Chiefs-Lions Game

After their victory, the Chiefs were in high spirits. However, that all changed after Detroit defensive back Brian Branch snapped and accosted one of their players. As all the players were shaking hands with one another, congratulating each other for a game well played, Branch decided he had a different purpose for his hands.
Rather than accept the handshake that Mahomes extended to him, he sauntered past him and slapped the Kansas City receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster right across the face. Naturally, the receiver did not handle the altercation well. After the shock of the moment wore off, he charged after Branch, prepared to return the favor.
- JuJu Smith-Schuster raced after Branch and proceeded to shove him several times. Afterward, an all-out brawl erupted between the players of the Chiefs and Lions.
While the majority of the players on the field were trying to separate the altercation, it looked like absolute mayhem on the field.
Repercussions To Come
Apparently, this was not Branch’s first time with unsportsmanlike conduct.
- The NY Post shared that last year, “He was ejected during a game against the Packers after delivering a late hit on receiver Bo Melton.”
- Additionally, he was later seen “flipping off the crowd and was called unsportsmanlike.”
They Were Bullying Me: When asked after the game about the altercation, Branch had this to say about the brawl after the Chiefs-Lions game.
- “They’re trying to bully me out there,” he claimed.
- “I got blocked in the back illegally in front of the ref, but the ref didn’t do anything,” he stated, suggesting that that was what sparked his rage.
Despite his explanation, Branch still expressed remorse over his actions on the field.
- “I shouldn’t have did it, it was childish,” he told reporters.
What Is To Come: The NY Post shares that there is “no question that Branch will be getting a call from the league over the incident.” However, it remains unclear who will be getting reprimanded for the brawl that occurred after the Chiefs-Lions game. The Lions’ head coach spoke out on the matter.
- “I love Brian Branch,” he began, “but what he did is inexcusable, and it’s not going to be accepted here.”
