A man from California reportedly attacked someone with an arrow. Authorities revealed that he is prohibited from owning firearms.

What happened: According to a news release by the Redding Police Department, officers responded to an incident at the 2700 block of Radio Lane. Authorities received multiple reports of a “male being impaled” with an arrow after an argument escalated.
- The news release does not reveal the victim’s identity, but police confirm he was 46 years old. When officers arrived, they found a man with a “significant injury to his chest area.” Emergency services transported him to Mercy Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
- Detectives reportedly took over the homicide investigation and brought in the suspect, 63-year-old Glen Stevenson, for questioning.
Stevenson Reportedly Has A History With Police Spanning Decades
A criminal history: The news release explains that Stevenson has “an extensive history with law enforcement.” Authorities say he was on felony probation for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
- Following an interview regarding the argument, detectives charged Stevenson with murder. He is being held at the Shasta County Jail.
- According to a report by KRCR, officials said the suspect was a longtime Redding resident. He has had numerous contacts with law enforcement spanning decades. The outlet also reveals the victim’s identity as Salvador Rabago. Police told KRCR that Stevenson was recently placed on felony probation in March 2024.
Redding Police Department Detective Captain Brian Cole shared more details regarding the incident. He could not explain what led to the attack but said, “We know that there was an argument or dispute between the two males that ultimately escalated into the victim being struck by an arrow.”
A bizarre crime: Cole noted how unusual the case was, saying he couldn’t recall a similar incident in his 20-year career.
- “When we have homicide investigations, typically it’s a firearm, or a knife, or some sort of blunt force trauma,” Cole explained. “This is the first one I can recall in the twenty years that I’ve been here where someone has had an arrow impaled in them.”Police say the investigation is still ongoing and urge anyone with information to get in touch.
