What happened: Sofia Vergara, best known as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the ABC sitcom ‘Modern Family,’ revealed she suffered from a nasty eye allergy. “Didn’t make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER š¤£š©sorry I had to cancel! Craziest eye allergy right before getting in the car!š¤£š¤£,” she shared on Instagram.
The actress posted an image of her swollen eye on the platform. She also revealed a short video of her attempting to wash out her eye with running tap water.
- Thousands of Vergara’s fans wished her well on the platform. One user wrote, “Sorry baby girl! That looks painful!” Actor Terry Crews responded, “Oh no! Get well soon!š„ā¤ļø”

Not the only cancellation: Page Six reports that the ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge was due to present at the Emmys this year alongside host Nate Bargatze.
- The outlet also notes that the actress previously posed in a strapless red gown designed by Dolce & Gabbana. The Golden Globe nominee changed out of her luxury ensemble before her trip to the ER.
- Per TMZ, Vergara was not the only star to miss the Emmys. Eric Dane, who played Dr Mark Stone in Grey’s Anatomy for six seasons, was also due to present but never showed. According to Deadline, Dane was scheduled to team up with Jesse Williams to celebrate the show’s 20th Anniversary.
Who won big at the Emmys?: Per the BBC, ‘The Pitt’ on HBO Max snagged the award for ‘Outstanding drama series.’ Actors in the show cleaned up at the ceremony. Noah Wylie won the award for ‘Outstanding lead actor in a drama series,’ while Katherina LaNasa won ‘Outstanding supporting actress’ for the same show.
- Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez won ‘Outstanding writing for a comedy series’ with ‘The Studio.’ Rogen also scored wins for ‘Outstanding lead actor in a comedy series ‘ and ‘Outstanding director.’
