The cow, now known as Mootilda, was spotted making a break for it, running from a slaughterhouse in the local area. She became somewhat of a viral sensation as she ran. breakneck, through towns and countryside.
Caught The Eye: Aimee Takaha, an owner of an animal sanctuary, stepped up and enquired about the cow. She runs a farm dedicated to the rehoming of animals that need healing. She managed to find out what slaughterhouse the cow had come from. So, she reached out and decided to ask about purchasing the breakout star.
- “When I first saw the video,” Aimee shared, “I thought I could take her here.” But you can’t just take a cow. That’s called rustling, and it’s still super illegal. So she reached out to the owners and enquired about Mootilda.
High Steaks
A cow doesn’t come cheap in this economy. Mootilda, the slaughterhouse-escaping cow, came with a high price tag. The abattoir was asking for $2,500 within 24 hours, or the cow was destined to become steaks.
So, Aimee reached out online to her loyal followers and asked for donations. They came pouring in, and within no time at all, she was able to buy Mootilda from the doors of death. The cow had gone from becoming steaks to being bathed in sunshine.
Since her rescue, there have been multiple updates on Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary Facebook page. It appears the cow has found a very comfortable forever home and is happily integrating with the rest of the rescued farm animals.
Happy Ending: The farm is full of animals pulled from situations where the owners or farms no longer needed them. They have chickens that no longer lay, wounded farm animals, and more, all living out their lives in peace. Rather than being sent to the slaughter, they can frolic around, free from fear.
It was a daring escape for Mootilda, but one that certainly paid off.
