House Speaker Mike Johnson called on country music icon Lee Greenwood to replace Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl. Speaking with TMZ, Greenwood said that he would love to play the halftime show.

  • However, he noted that the NFL already chose Bad Bunny. Instead, Greenwood said he could help energize fans in a different capacity.

Meanwhile, Johnson was very critical of the NFL’s decision to have Bad Bunny perform at the Super Bowl. Here’s what he had to say.

  • He said, “It sounds like he’s not someone who appeals to a broader audience.”
  • He also added, “I didn’t even know who Bad Bunny was. But it sounds like a terrible decision in my view from what I’m hearing. It sounds like he’s not someone who appeals to a broader audience and there are so many eyes on the Super Bowl – a lot of young, impressionable children.”
  • Johnson said, “And, in my view, you would have Lee Greenwood or Role Models doing that. Not somebody like this.”

Bad Bunny And The Super Bowl

Greenwood certainly fits the bill for what conservatives look for in a performer. The country icon is famous for his patriotic song “God Bless the USA.” He also recently appeared at the memorial for Charlie Kirk. The singer is also going to perform for the upcoming Dallas Cowboys’ Monday Night Football game.

Meanwhile, Bad Bunny recently spoke out about the controversy over the Super Bowl

  • “You might not know this, but I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy and I think everyone is happy about it – even Fox News,” Bad Bunny said.
  • He continued, “Thank you. Wow, thank you. But really, I am very excited to be doing the Super Bowl and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy.”
  • He then addressed viewers in Spanish, saying, “Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors. It’s more than a win for myself, it’s a win for all of us. Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”
