A Kentucky sheriff is accused of driving his cruiser while under the influence. He was reportedly driving 110 mph with the sirens blaring. This is his third DUI arrest in only two years.

What Happened: Mason County Sheriffs arrested Terry Gray on October 7. Gray is a sheriff in Robertson County. They charged him with a DUI, reckless driving, wanton endangerment, and official misconduct.
Past Offenses: Gray has a history of DUIs.
- Authorities arrested in December 2023. At the time, Gray had been driving under the influence in his police cruiser near a school.
- Fast forward to last August, he was arrested once again for a DUI. This time the sheriff was caught driving a tractor. He had apparently driven it onto a main road where he flipped the machine.
- For his second offense, Gray entered an Alford plea, where he did not admit guilt but acknowledged the evidence may not be in his favor.
Sheriff Arrested For DUI
Details of Arrest: The sheriff reportedly almost crashed into a Mason County sheriff.
- According to Lex 18, Gray had been wearing his sheriff’s uniform and had a firearm on his person.
- He refused to take a field sobriety test or a breathalyzer.
- Authorities discovered a mini bottle of liquor in his pocket as well as a a bottle of Fireball whiskey in his cruiser.
- He had a blood alcohol content of 0.226 at the detention center, which is three times the legal limit.
Governor Andy Beshear has called for Gray to resign from his position as sheriff.
- He said, “Tender your resignation as the Robertson County Sheriff to the County Judge/Executive within five business days of your receipt of this letter.”
- “If you do not tender your resignation, the Governor will move forward with removal under KRS 63.100 for neglect of duty, habitual drunkenness in office, and gross immorality or misconduct in office amounting to neglect of duty.”
- “We value the sanctity of law enforcement and the duty to uphold the law and serve and protect the communities that put their trust in their peace officers.”
A judge previously told Gray a fourth DUI would be a felony offense.
