27-year-old Caleb Jireh Alexander was picked up for the crime of being a bit mean to staff at the Norwich, NY, YMCA. According to the report, he had used foul language and spoken disrespectfully. This was enough for the police to be called. When they grabbed him, it was found that he had been trying to impersonate numerous different people.
False Identity: A search of the man found that he had numerous forms of identification on him, none of which gave the right information. He had been living fraudulently, using them for nefarious purposes. On further investigation, it was found that he had even used one to enroll at a local high school.
- According to the police, Caleb had used one of the false identities to enroll at Norwich High School. He had used a fake name, date of birth, and address. Thankfully, the school was switched on, and his attempts failed.
Not So Smart
Norwich High School spotted the attempt by Caleb to pull the wool over their eyes and stopped it dead. They noticed something was amiss about the fugitive and rejected his high school enrollment. They called the police, and he was arrested.
- Deputy Chief Scott Burlison praised the school’s sharp eyes. “Although Mr. Alexander’s true intentions are not yet fully known, Norwich City School staff did an exceptional job recognizing that something wasn’t right. Our detectives quickly tracked down leads, and our patrol units did an excellent job locating the suspect after being briefed on Mr. Alexander’s description.”
It transpired that Caleb was already quite well known to the police and was wanted on numerous charges. He had a warrant out in Ohio already for charges including robbery and impersonating a police officer.
It appears the man was a career imposter. His plan to enroll in a high school was just the next step in whatever he was up to. At present, it’s unknown what his intentions were in enrolling in the high school. But it’s been confirmed that no students were harmed.
