An Attempted Escape: Roshin Ali was a 13-year-old girl when she ran away from home in Jackson, Texas. She feared for her life, believing that her father was going to kill her. He called the police, and a search was launched.
Recalling the situation, Ali spoke of her harrowing ordeal with her father, an aggressive gambling addict.
- “We immediately… ran into our bedroom because we were afraid that he was going to start beating on us like he normally does whenever he comes home upset,” she explained. When he broke into her room, she and her brother jumped from the window.
- After a lot of violence and eventual police involvement, she was taken into foster care and away from her abusive family.
A Cop Coincidence: One of the officers assigned to the hunt was Tyler Schrupp. The 23-year-old officer never met the young girl. She returned only the next day, and the search was called off. However, by chance, the cop and the missing woman would meet again 12 years later.

Roshin grew up and got herself a job in the local police department. unaware she was working opposite the cop who had once searched for her.
Love At First Sight
As soon as Schrupp saw Ali at work, he was smitten. According to Ali, he was very quiet around her, too shy to say anything.
- “He wouldn’t stop staring at me, but literally wouldn’t say a word at all,” she told the New York Post. “I thought she was very beautiful, which is why I was kind of nervous to talk to her,” he explained.
But they eventually got chatting and sharing life stories. As Ali explained her harrowing childhood, a few things started to ring a bell for the cop. He knew the story, and he recognized the dates, and eventually the two of them put two and two together.
- Although he had never met her during the search, he had been the cop looking for the missing Tennessee woman when she was just a girl. Now, years later, they are getting married.
