Trump Speaks On Matter: Speaking with reporters, Trump said that Diddy was just one of several people hopping to dodge a prison sentence thanks to a pardon.

  • “A lot of people have asked me for pardons,” Trump told media outlets in the Oval Office. “I call him Puff Daddy, [he] has asked me for a pardon.”

However, the rapper should probably settle in for his sentence. Diddy was sentenced to a little over four years in prison. While he managed to dodge the more serious human trafficking and racketeering charges, he was found guilty on transportation to engage in prostitution.

Diddy Wants Pardon

Trump didn’t reveal what he said to Diddy and his team. But previously, he said during an interview with Newsmax that he was very unlikely to pardon Diddy.

  • He said, “I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile.”

Meanwhile, Diddy’s representatives spoke out about the sentence and the pardon. Attorneys in the case confirmed that Diddy did seek a pardon.

  • “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” attorney Nicole Westmoreland said.
  • “The jury made it very clear in their verdict that they acquitted him of the sex trafficking and the RICO counts,” lead attorney Teny Geragos said at the time. “Not guilty means not guilty.”

Meanwhile, Diddy is seeking to serve out his sentence at the low-security federal prison FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.

“In order to address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the Court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr. Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix for RDAP purposes and any other available educational and occupational programs,” Geragos said in the letter on Monday.
