Dog the Bounty Hunter’s son is in hot water. The police department where he worked recently fired after a high-speed chase killed a teen.

Garry Chapman, son of Dog the Bounty Hunter, worked as a police officer for the Priceville Police in Alabama. The force let him go for his involvement in the chase. Chapman went on an inter-town pursuit on September 6 that turned deadly, WHNT reported.

1. Garry Chapman Appeared Alongside Dog The Bounty Hunter
Before he was a police officer, Chapman appeared alongside his father in several of the Dog the Bounty Hunter series. Chapman is the 24-year-old son of Duane Chapman’s relationship with Alice. After leaving reality TV, Chapman settled into his role as a police officer.
2. A High Speed Pursuit
On September 6, police tried to stop a car allegedly driven by Archie Hale. They suspected that Hale was under the influence. But when the car failed to stop, the police started pursuing the individual. Chapman was involved in the high speed chase.
It started on Interstate 65, but the car then left into the neighboring Hartselle. That’s when Hale allegedly slammed into a minivan with four teens inside. 17-year-old Tristan Hollis died from his injuries as a result of the wreck.
3. Lawyer Speaks Out
The police placed Chapman on leave. Ultimately, Priceville Police Chief Jerry Holmes fired Chapman and Mayor Sam Heflin agreed to fire all the officers involved in the crash after an internal investigation.
However, Chapman filed an appeal.
- “The Supreme Court allows pursuit as long as you’re assessing danger throughout the pursuit. And it’s unfortunate that it turned out the way it did. But Garry followed the law, and he followed the policy. We hope that the City Council, after the hearing, will see it our way and recognize that Chapman is an asset to their city and not a detriment. And so hopefully he’ll be reinstated,” Chapman’s attorney Scott Morro said.
- “Garry Chapman is an excellent police officer who has made several cases for the City of Priceville, and he is their top police officer even though he has only been there a short period of time,” Morro added.
4. Man Charged With Murder
Meanwhile, Hale has been charged with murder, possession of drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs as well as a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, and attempting to escape the police.
