Not all heroes wear capes, they say. For one preschooler, the person he chose to dress up as was his personal hero, the church handyman.

A small event for kids was set up at the Mississippi First Baptist Church of Clinton. The preschoolers were told to dress up as what they wanted to be when they grew up. Typically, you would expect firemen, doctors, astronauts, and the like. But one little guy decided his hero was a little closer to home and realistic.
Hometown Hero: For one preschooler, his hero was the church handyman. Bubba Cable, or Mr. Bubba to his friends, has been on site for years. He’s the guy who sorts out all the issues around the building and tirelessly maintains. Despite his humble job, he makes a difference.
- For one little guy, this was enough for him to be the perfect role model. On dress-as-your-dream day, he sported the full outfit. Mr. Bubba was shocked on account of the kid dressing as him. Furthermore, the whole get-up was there, from bald cap to on hip key clip,

The hanyman was taken aback by the very heartfelt and honest gesture by the preschooler, designating him as his hero. For Mr. Bubba, his job is just that. But it’s clear that his community truly values him. He’s more than just maintenance.
- “Mr. Bubba does everything for us. I mean, all we have to do is text Mr. Bubba and he’s on it,” the preschool director told an outlet. “He doesn’t just take care of us. He takes care of our whole church.”
Following the surprise, Mr. Bubba got involved in a photo shoot. However, he stayed humble.

Mr.Bubba was humbled by the whole situation because he had no idea he was playing such an important role in the preschoolers’ lives.
- “It’s just a surprise that anyone would even look up to me like that. I’m just an average Joe here,” Cable said.
- “He’s a good kid. All the kids here are. I interact with them. I’m walking by all the time, and they’ll go to hollering, even out of their classrooms, ‘Mr. Bubba.’ And on the playground. My goodness, I walk by there and they all line up inside the fence, hollering at me. ‘Come in here and play with us.’ I’m like, I can’t. I’ve got work to do.”
Despite his stardom, he hasn’t let the fame go to his head. Mr. Bubba might be the hero of a preschooler, but he has a church to maintain.
