According to the family, they are conducting an independent investigation into the death of 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala. He lost his life after riding a roller coaster. As it pulled into the station, he was found unconscious. He showed multiple signs of blunt trauma and needed to be carefully lifted from the seat.
- As they lay the man down, CPR was administered. However, it was already too late. The blunt force trauma had been too much for the man. He passed away shortly after being transported to a local hospital from the Orlando theme park
Where There’s Blame, There’s Claim: An independent investigation is being launched to challenge the one already underway by the park. Epic Universe has determined that the death of the man on the Stardust Racers rollercoaster was an accident. However, the civil suit by his family hopes to delve further.
- “We have to know what happened,” the attorney’s lawyer said during a press conference. “We have to get answers.”
Died Doing What He Loved
For the family, the loss of their child has been a tragedy. They hope to find out exactly what caused his death on the Epic Universe Stardust Racers roller coaster. According to them, despite his disability, he would often ride and had visited multiple parks without issue.
- “I never put any limits on my son, regardless of what condition he had — he had no limits,” his mother said during the press interview. “He was raised like his siblings, no different. He was completely independent.”
As well as claiming some money from Epic Universal, the family hopes to hold them accountable. If the incident is brushed off as an accident, very little will be done to prevent it from happening again. They hope that, with this investigation, they can get to the bottom of it.
- “We will find out what happened here, and we’ll try to make sure this never happens again, so that another grieving family is not standing in front of you,” an attorney working with the family said.
