- The Casino explains that the winner, Anthony W, placed a $5 “progressive side bet” during blackjack when a mystery “must-hit progressive” was triggered. The outlet explains that several games at the casino allow the optional side bet, including Blackjack, Poker, and Roulette. The wager uses three virtual reels.
- In Blackjack specifically, these “triggering events” occur when the dealer’s blackjack hand adds up to 16. Per Blackjack Apprenticeship, dealers must typically stand if their hand is 17 or higher, so 16 is the maximum amount where they must hit another card.

A call home: FireKeepers Casino reveals that the first thing Anthony did when he won the grand prize was make a “heartwarming” call to his mom to share the good news.
