Sandra Hall, previously known by her family name Dawn, was once part of the renowned ’50s and ’60s group, The Platters. The group has made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, solidifying them as icons in their genre.
The singer went walking last Friday and remained missing until the Wednesday after. Her family was left worrying as the hunt for the missing legendary singer continued for days.
Sandra went missing in Brooklyn while boarding the uptown No. 2 train at Atlantic Terminal Mall on Flatbush Avenue. It was the last time she was seen until Wednesday. Police and her family had been on the hunt for almost a week.
Eventually, she was found wandering and returned to New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She had actually been picked up on the very day she had disappeared. Someone had seen the legendary singer wandering the streets and presumed she was missing.
Family Relieved Singer Safe And Sound
Sandra Hall’s family was left worrying for days before the 80-year-old woman was finally located. “I can’t tell you how much angst, how worried, I would sit out here and look up and down the street and wait for her to come back,” Natasha Barrett, her daughter, told ABC7.
Her granddaughter, Tairese Barrett, is her primary caregiver. As well as her elderly grandmother, she also has young children to care for. It was while out with her kids and Sandra that the singer went missing.
“It was very hard, very hard, especially for me because I’m like if something happened to her, that would be my fault,” Tairese Barrett told the outlet. “I had my 6-year-old with me, and I didn’t feel safe enough to run, like go run after her with my 6-year-old around train tracks.”
Apparently, this isn’t the first time the singer has gone missing. Previously, she hopped on public transportation and was two sheets to the wind. “She’s done this before. She hopped on a bus when I had two of my children with me. She hopped the bus, and she didn’t come back until way later, but she came back.”
