‘Resident Evil’ Actor Arrested After Road Rage Led To Almost Deadly Encounter

A man credited with minor roles in some of the Resident Evil video games was arrested for attempted homicide last week. Authorities are charging him with multiple offenses.

What happened: According to a news release by the Galloway Township Police Department, the incident occurred on September 11 near the campus of Stockton University.

  • Officers responded to a 911 call about a shooting. Maritza Arias-Galva called the emergency services, reporting that someone had shot her in the face. She told authorities that the shooter was in another vehicle and fled the scene. Detectives later determined the shooting was “the result of an isolated road rage incident.”
  • When the authorities arrived, they confirmed that the 911 caller had indeed been shot in the face and provided treatment. Arias-Galva was able to give a detailed description of her attacker. She also told officers the shooter was driving a white Honda SUV.
  • After giving details, emergency services transported the victim to the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center. Arias-Galva is reportedly recovering from her injury and is in a stable condition.

Police Closed In On The Shooter After The Road Rage Incident

An arrest was made: The news release reveals that the victim’s vehicle description quickly led to a full-blown search for the alleged shooter. Authorities identified the suspect as 46-year-old Ernest Wesley Heinz.

  • Officers located Heinz later in the day at a residence in the Blue Heron Pines Development in Galloway Township. Authorities gained search warrants for a property and two vehicles.
  • Authorities reveal Heinz faces a charge of Criminal Attempt Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. Officers also booked him for Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
  • Heinz appeared in several movies, including J. Edgar in 2011, per IMDB. He is also credited as “additional crew” in Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

Chief Eric B. Hendrickson said in a statement, “The prompt and professional actions of our officers resulted in a quick apprehension of Mr. Heinz.” He also wished Arias-Galva a swift recovery and pledged to support the community following the “senseless incident.”

Per ABC6, authorities are holding Heinz at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. He is due in court next week.
