According to a report by Click2Houston, the incident occurred on Friday night at around 11 PM at a house in the 4800 block of Bellnole Drive. In a statement to KHOU11, Lt Khan from the Houston Police Department explains they received a call about a home invasion.
As officers headed to the scene, they learned that two masked men were at the house. They told the homeowner they were police officers and were there to serve a warrant. The homeowner was unconvinced, so the suspects reportedly fired shots through the front door. “So, of course, the homeowner returned fire and struck both of the suspects that were at their door,” Khan said. Authorities reveal that the suspects were wearing bulletproof vests and had badges around their necks. They also had ski masks.
It remains unclear if the two suspects posing as officers knew the homeowners.
Authorities Revealed More Details About The Home Invasion Suspects
During the interview, Khan explained that authorities don’t not know the age of the suspects. “They look to be younger. Maybe, at the most, like in their 30s,” she said. Khan also clarified that the homeowners were not injured during the shooting. Officers found the two suspects when they arrived at the residence and pronounced both deceased.
The homeowners reportedly have a Ring camera on their front door and quickly realized something was wrong. “The suspects were saying they had a warrant, but, y’know, it’s just two people and they are masked up. No police cars, no lights or anything like that,” Khan said. “They immediately became suspicious. Thankfully, no one else was hurt,” she added.
The Police Lieutenant clarified that the suspects shot first before the homeowner returned fire. Per a report by ABC13, there was a child in the house at the time, but they were also unharmed. According to Click2Houston, residents noted that detectives remained in the area for hours, speaking to homeowners and collecting evidence at the scene. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
