People who choose to get their lover’s name tattooed on their body are a whole new level of brave to me. You have to be so steadfast in your relationship, without a shadow of a doubt, that it will always work out. Otherwise, the once adorable ink can now serve as an embarrassing or painful reminder. One woman shared the clever way that she covered an embarrassing tattoo of an ex-lover’s name.

The Details: Katie Allen took a bad situation and made it humorous.

  • The 22-year-old inked her boyfriend’s name on her right hip last November after a bet.
  • Months later, the pair broke up.
  • Rather than panicking or getting the tattoo removed, Allan found a clever way to cover the embarrassing ink.

How A Woman Covered Her Embarrassing Tattoo

Allan is a risk-taker for sure. After a bet with her then-boyfriend, she opted to get his name tattooed across her right hip. Her then-boyfriend, named Ryan, bet her that she would never get his name inked on her body. To prove him wrong, she went out and did it. When speaking to Kennedy News, she had this to say.

  • “I stupidly got his name tattooed,” she admitted to the outlet. “He was just like, ‘I bet you wouldn’t do it. I bet you’d never do that.’ So while he was at work one day, I just went and got it done.”

Unfortunatley, Allan was not rewarded for her boldness. Several months after receiving her tattoo, the couple split. Now she was left with a permanent souvenir from her relationship.

No Panic Here: While most people would panic over the now embarrassing tattoo, Allan was utterly relaxed.

  • “Me and the girls were thinking of cover-ups,” she admitted to the outlet. “Then we thought, ‘What if we didn’t even cover it, what if we added air to it and turned it into Ryanair?”

A Fitting Fix

Allan’s idea seemed fitting, given that she hopped on a Ryanair flight just two weeks after her breakup. She returned to the same tattoo artist who did her original ink and asked her to tattoo the new addition. The tattoo artist happily obliged.

  • “She loves it,” Allan shared about her tattoo artist’s reaction. “She was the one who actually tattooed his name in the first place, and she was trying to tell me not to do it.”

Allan shared her rebrand online and received a myriad of responses. Some people thought she was clever for the way she covered her embarrassing tattoo. Others thought that her rebrand was just as stupid as tattooing her ex-lover’s name.

  • “I’ve had loads of people say it’s stupid and all sorts,” Allan admitted. “I’m like, ‘It’s not stupid, it’s funny.’ I’m not bothered at all. I think it’s hilarious. I love it. It’s my new favorite tattoo now.”

Along with her awesome attitude about the whole ordeal, Allan jokes that she would appreciate a flight to Ibiza from Ryanair for her new tattoo dedicated to them.
