China moves in silence. They bring out world-changing technologies seemingly out of nowhere, have connected the world in international trade in a way not seen since the Silk Road, and construct buildings that dwarf the rest of the world without any fanfare at all.
Big Bridge: Now, China has constructed a bridge that spans the Huajiang Grand Canyon in Guizhou province. It is the highest bridge in the world, towering a mind-bending 625 metres above the Beipan River. It is the highest bridge accessible to the public.
- The incredible feat of engineering took 3 years to build. It stretches approximately 2,890 metres in length, with a main span of roughly 1,420 metres. The construction cost a staggering $295 million.
Although, as some have pointed out, that’s still less than a single F-22 fighter jet.
More Than Just A World Record-Setting Bridge
The main reason for the construction of the world’s highest bridge is for transport, of course. The journey across the Huajiang Grand Canyon used to be a two-hour journey. However, now, with this magnificent construction, it is only a two-minute trip.
China just revealed the world’s tallest bridge, completing the project in under 4 years.

A Tall Tourist Attraction: But, it’s more than just a bridge. The builders knew that the picturesque crossing deserved more than just a quick trip. They have also incorporated a number of other reasons to visit.
- Bungee Jumping – For those looking for some thrills, the world’s tallest bridge makes the most of its elevation. The bridge authority also plans to allow paragliding and base jumping from the deck of the bridge.
- Dinner with A View – Incorporated into the gigantic supports of the bridge is a cafe that people can take a lift up to. From there, they can enjoy a coffee and a snack, soaking up the unbeatable view.
- Observation Decks – A huge glass walkway runs along the world’s highest bridge to a glass observation room. For those willing to brave the height, there are some amazing opportunities for pictures.
If you’re into your bridges, then the new record breaker in China is a must-visit. Not only does it span a natural wonder, but it also offers all the added extras you may want.
