According to Click Orlando, 29-year-old Kristin Galli contacted the University of Central Florida’s Student Care Services in May. The outlet cites a police affidavit, which reveals she called the front desk. Galli then stated, “I’m gonna ******* blow you guys up,” before promptly hanging up. The affidavit reportedly explains that Student Care Services tried to call her back, but she did not pick up her phone.
Authorities note how they managed to identify Galli after the call. Per Click Orlando, the affidavit says, “Kristin was identified due to her voicemail box and phone number on UCF student files.” Authorities also claim that Galli sent “over 200 incoherent text messages from the same phone number” to a professor at the university. Those text messages reportedly contained images of the suspect, which the professor then reported.
Police Contacted The Florida Woman The Following Day
Click Orlando explains that police contacted Galli by phone the following day. They asked her about the bomb threat, and she reportedly told them, “I thought it would be funny, and I was drunk when I called.” She allegedly admitted it was a mistake and she was angry.
Galli has her next hearing scheduled later this week on August 21. She faces charges of false reporting of bombing against a state-owned property and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Last month, another bomb threat made headlines as it forced an airliner to make an abrupt emergency landing. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office shared a press release explaining that officers responded to a “verbal bomb threat made by a passenger” on an Allegiant Air flight on July 6.
The plane was en route to Roanoke, Virginia, but returned to St. Pete-Clearwater Airport in Florida after takeoff. A 27-year-old passenger, Taj Taylor, thought it was a smart idea to tell another passenger his laptop was a bomb. Detectives say multiple people heard Taylor’s claim, and they quickly notified flight attendants.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that a K9 unit searched Taylor’s belongings and found no such device. Police also revealed that the FBI took over the investigation.
