What happened: 54-year-old Dan Rivera was traveling the country leading the “Devils on the Run Tour,” according to multiple sources, including Minq. He was the Lead Investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR).
- Rivera was in Gettysburg on July 13, traveling with Annabelle, an allegedly “possessed” doll. The doll is of particular note as it’s reportedly the same one depicted in the Conjuring and Annabelle horror movies.
- A report by the Evening Sun explains that someone called the emergency services about a situation at a Gettysburg hotel. They reportedly administered CPR to someone of Rivera’s age. A coroner confirmed to the outlet that colleagues found the 54-year-old alone in his hotel room.
- The cause of Rivera’s death could not be confirmed when the incident occurred. At the time, a Pennsylvania State Police report said, “The decedent was discovered in his room by coworkers. Nothing unusual or suspicious was observed at the scene.”
The Coroners Office Confirms The Paranormal Investigator’s Cause Of Death
Underlying health problems: According to a report by WGAL, a statement by the coroner’s office explains, “The cause of death has been determined to be cardiac related and is ruled out as a natural death.” It also points out previous health problems. “Mr. Rivera had a known history of cardiac issues, which were consistent with the findings.”
- Perhaps owing to speculation online, the statement reportedly added that the Annabelle doll was not in the room at the time of Rivera’s death.
- NESPR posted a statement on July 15, confirming Rivera’s passing. The post reveals he was a US Army veteran and part of the team for over a decade.
- The statement also claims that Rivera “worked closely with Lorraine Warren and remained by her side even as her health declined.” Lorraine Warren is one of the characters prominently featured in the Conjuring movies. At the time, the NESPR admitted they did not know what the future held without Rivera at the helm.
- The post concluded, “Dan gave so many pieces of himself. Through his kindness, his strength, his faith. And those pieces will live on in all of us.”
