A man has somehow been caught in the middle of a pitch-sized American flag.

As the crowds diligently sang along to the USA national anthem, avid patriots waved their enormous flag in celebration of their favorite nation. But, there was something amiss with the huge piece of cloth. In the middle of it was a man on his knees, crawling his way to the side.
Where: The crowds of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets had an extra little bit of pre-game entertainment. Footage was caught of the man as he slowly made his way toward the edge. His progress was slow.
What Happened: It’s unclear how the man ended up stuck in the middle of the American flag during the national anthem. You would think that before everyone picked it up and started manically waving it, he would have had some warning. But the Americans’ patriotic fervor obviously made them blind to his predicament.
- The American flag-waving folks didn’t let the trapped man get in their way, though. They wiggled and flapped to their heart’s content. The guy stuck in the middle was left to crawl to the side. He could have, obviously, stood up and covered the distance in half the time, but that would have been controversial as one person pointed out below.
And The Crowd Goes Wild
There was a lot of confusion online and in the crowd as to how on earth the man ended up on the American flag during the national anthem. It’s a 100-foot-wide piece of material that is not exactly easy to miss.
- “Kuddos to him for crawling instead of stepping on the flag. I know his knees hurt when he got up, but he’ll be alright,” one proud patriot said. She’s just happy he didn’t make the fatal mistake of flag-stepping
- Another commenter added that it could have been more productive to roll across the flag rather than crawl. But that could be seen as an even bigger diss to the colors of the Greatest Nation on Earth.
