We live in an age where video manipulation and generation is easier than ever. You can hardly believe anything you see online. A group of parkour gymnasts has proven that it’s easier to trick people than you may think with a recent video.
Videos by Rare
Being able to spot fake videos takes a little skill and some practice. Most of the fakes online these days are done by AI, but they’re still really easy to pick out, provided you know how. However, CGI, using overlays and manipulation, can be a little more complex
Flips and Video Tricks: The group of parkour gymnasts in the video is doing a few impressive tricks. However, due to some video manipulation, it looks a lot more dangerous than it is. Initially, they seem to be jumping over vast gaps and over dangerous terrain. However, they quickly reveal their movie magic.
- Green screens are often used by video editors as the background on which they overlay new images. Grass also happens to be green. In the parkour video, the guys are overlaying huge pits and chasms where it’s really just grass.
- Instead of jumping over dangerous gaps, they’re only a few feet of soft grass. In the post, they’re simply making it look scary.

Believe None of What You Hear, And Half of What You See
The parkour video is a prime example of how simple it is to manipulate what we understand. With current editing software, changing videos has never been easier. The parkour video is completely convincing. Only one part, where they jump over a spike pit, is a little questionable.
It’s a good reminder to question everything. Just because someone shows you a video, it doesn’t mean it’s real. There have been millions fooled by viral videos that turn out to be AI-generated. Did you really believe 300-meter-long snakes were amassing in the Amazon?
The guys in the parkour video are just having a bit of a laugh with movie magic. However, many out there are just lying to you for nefarious reasons.
