Cancelled Hair Appointment Leads To A Violet Encounter With Hairstylist

After a dispute about a hair appointment, a woman allegedly stabbed her hairstylist.

People will really stab each other over anything these days. According to Statista, over 110,000 assaults with a knife were committed in the US in 2023. This, obviously, still pales in comparison to guns. But the odds of getting stabbed are still pretty shocking.

Don’t Play: Police were called to a hair salon in Merriville, Indiana, after the hair stylists reported that there had been an assault. On arrival, it transpired that after a dispute about an appointment, the woman booked in arrived with violence.

• According to the hairstylist, the woman had contacted her about an appointment for her daughter. She had asked about the address of the salon. The stylist had directed her to check the email for the address. The woman then responded with expletives.
• Eventually, she showed up with her daughter, but she was late. The appointment had been cancelled, and the woman had lost her $20 deposit. This sparked an altercation in which the woman allegedly stabbed the hairstylist in the arm twice.

Hot-Headed Hair Appointment

The other hair stylists immediately intervened, but not before one had already been stabbed. The woman, 36-year-old Takary, then high-tailed it, allegedly claiming she would be back to “shoot up the salon.” The hairstylist called the police and reported the assault.

Turned Herself In: Sims, the woman responsible for the assault, actually reported herself to the police before she was caught. She had a different story than the hairstylist.

• According to Sims, she had contacted the salon and booked her daughter for braids. She paid a $20 deposit and waited for confirmation. However, when she reached out for the location, the hairstylist didn’t give her any.
• Eventually, she found the salon she worked at through an internet search. However, when she arrived, it transpired that she worked elsewhere. Only then did she give her the proper address, causing her to be late.
• She claims she turned up, and an argument began. The hairstylist assaulted her first, and she defended herself with a knife, protecting her daughter.

CCTV from the salon can’t confirm or disprove their stories. All it shows is an argument happening off-screen, with the women appearing on camera already beating one another. Sims then pulls a knife and slashes at the hairstylist before leaving with her daughter.

Sims faces charges of battery by means of a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, and two counts of intimidation.
