During a parade at Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Bay Lake, Florida, a woman was arrested after assaulting a 17-year-old teen. Claw marks were testimony to the violence she allegedly inflicted on the girl in an effort to get a better view.
Martha Lucia Zapata-Echeverri, 51, was, according to her report, trying to follow her daughter to the front of the crowd. As her child moved toward the Disney parade, her mother followed. In the process, Martha put her hands on a young woman and moved her out of the way.
According to the report, the woman insisted she just put her hand on her shoulder and moved her. The police said she “mimed a pushing action.” However, certain evidence suggests she got a bit more vicious than that to get closer to the Disney parade.
Disney Desperation
The woman, in her push towards the Disney parade, got a little too excited and deployed her claws to push to the front of the crowd. As a result, the teen who she moved out of the way ended up with “a small abrasion and bruise.”
“Martha knowingly and willfully touched [the teen]. Martha committed the intentional act of grabbing or pushing, which was reasonable to cause some type of injury,” the arrest affidavit stated. According to the girl, Martha used unnecessary force to get her out of the way.
The teen said that Martha, on her way to the front of the Disney parade crowd, “put her hand on [the teen], trying to make space, and [the teen] asked the suspect not to touch her in Spanish.” But there was no stopping her, and their altercation began.
Security and police were called. So, the woman was removed from the Disney parade in handcuffs. She has been charged with child abuse, held on a $2,500 bail, and banned from Disney parks. No more Disney for Martha.
