Hunter S Thompson was never going to go out with a whimper. A life like his was never destined to end in a hospital bed, quietly surrounded by loved ones, of whom he had many. As his wife recalled to the Associated Press, before his suicide, Hunter S Thompson had said to her, “He feels at the peak of his life right now, has a very successful career, has a network of perfect friends,” she said. “If he quit now, he would feel he was a champion.”

A Look Back Into The Suicide of Hunter S Thompson
20 years after the fact, the wife of Hunter S Thompson, Anita Thompson, is requesting another look at the investigation. She feels there was something missed. The case was originally handled by the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office. Now, however, they have passed it on to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Thompson had on this community and beyond,” Pitkin County Sheriff Michael Buglione said. “By bringing in an outside agency for a fresh look, we hope to provide a definitive and transparent review that may offer peace of mind to his family and the public.”
Hunter S Thompson’s wife wants his suicide reexamined due to certain things she’s been hearing. She claims rumours from family and possible friends demand it be examined. However, police are confident that the case will remain as it is.
