Violet Spring was born with symbrachydactyl, a rare defect that left the five-year-old New Zealand girl without a fully-developed left hand. But despite her disabilities, Violet continues to be a positive child with an ever-growing sense of wonderment.

This inspired her photographer mother, Holly, to take a series of breathtaking photos of Violet to show off her daughter’s whimsical side.
“She is my little muse,” said Holly of her daughter, who was also born with Hirschsprung’s disease, a gastrointestinal disorder. “She has taught me so much about myself. As much as she is my model, she is also my role model and reminds me to have the same courage in life.”
