Every day, some lunatic thinks up another death-defying stunt and somehow manages to pull it off. Luc Ackermann, a known daredevil and stunt rider, has successfully landed a tornado backflip between two moving trucks.

The stunt was a marvel to behold. It wasn’t simply a case of German-born Ackerman jumping between two moving trucks; it was much more complicated. As the vehicles rolled down a motorway, the stunt rider jumped from one ramp to another. In the process, he not only cleared a road sign 9 meters above the ground, but also threw a tornado backflip between the moving trucks.
So, with a combined speed of around 75kmph, Ackerman backflipped, extended his body off the bike, and landed on a moving truck 23 meters away. Even considering something like that is cause to be sectioned.

But, with some precise planning and balls of steel, he managed it. Honestly, he made it look easy.

The whole stunt had to be meticulously planned before takeoff. A backflip between two moving trucks, over a road sign, isn’t something that can be pulled off without some thought. A lot of practice and patience were in order before Ackermann took off.
Thomas Stöggl, Head of Global Performance Innovation at the Athlete Performance Center in Thalgau, Austria, planned the stunt. According to his calculation, for the whole thing to work, Ackermann needed to take off from the first moving truck at exactly 33 mph. This gave him a window of only 0.5 seconds to get the whole thing right.
Incredibly, Luc performed the backflip between the moving trucks with no speedometer on his bike.
“The feeling after the jump was incredible because I realised it was just enough,” he told Red Bull. “The preparations took several days, and there was so much tension. To have that lifted was simply overwhelming. I really celebrated – I basically went half crazy.”
There are some people out there who have not only the imagination to think up such insane stunts, but a few who also dare to try them. But there are only a handful that are also capable enough to pull them off.
