Just because a shark has been landed, it doesn’t mean its teeth don’t work, as one man found out while trying to snap a picture with his fresh catch.

Shawn Meuse and a couple of pals were fishing on the island of Cayo Costa, looking to hook some monsters. The island is off the coast of Florida and is only accessible by boat. It was while enjoying a bit of late-night shark fishing that disaster struck.
Footage from the scene shows the men surrounding a Lemon Shark they had managed to pull to shore. Speaking of the event, 47-year-old Meuse said he had stepped in to remove the hook from the huge fish. Taking his chance, the video from the shark attack shows him posing with their catch.
However, the shark still has plenty of energy, and it whips sideways and sinks its teeth into Shawn’s leg. Freeing itself, it starts to make its way out of the shallows and back into the sea. Shawn falls back, and for a moment, nobody realises what has just happened.
Sharp Shark Struggle Ends in Revenge
Shawn sits in the sand with his leg outstretched. In the dark, the flashlights illuminate the shark as it makes its way back to freedom, and then darts across to the prone man. It’s instantly clear that the shark has done some pretty decent damage. His leg is already surrounded by blood, and deep bite gouges can be seen beneath his knee.
The guys jumped into action and quickly applied a tourniquet. Chucking him in a boat, they made a nighttime dash to Gasparilla Island, where Boca Grande Fire Department and Lee County emergency medical personnel met him on the beach.
He was airlifted to a hospital and had his shark bite carefully treated. Thankfully, the shark wasn’t a big one, and it only managed a nibble. But, he’s going to have some scars to show for it, and a very stupid story to tell.
“It’s unfortunate, but it’s something that happens. Luckily, he only took a little bit of me and not a lot,” he told WINK.
