Anyone who has ever worked in a bar knows how funny being a mostly sober fly on the wall is with all the patrons stumbling around. A bar in Fort Lauderdale has capitalised on that by livestreaming their customers for anyone at home to enjoy.

Waking up the morning after with a brutal hangover and the mystery of what went on last night is something patrons of Elbo Room don’t need to worry about. The various cameras dotted around the self-proclaimed dive bar give every shot and stumble a live audience.
The Revultion Will Be Televised: There are a total of six cameras posted up in Elbo Room, livestreaming the bar to the world. patrons are aware of the surveillance, and none of them are anywhere too suspect. The cameras have been up and streaming since 1997, free for the most part.
- For anyone looking to get more out of the service, there are paid subscription cameras also. The livestream from the bar is silent. But, for a subscription of only $2.99, sound can be added along with two exclusive cams. They offer three daily bands and an insight into people’s drunk chats.
No Excuse
As well as offering endless entertainment for viewers, there are a few other perks to the livestreaming bar. For partners waiting at home, they can have a quick check-up on Elbo Room. The old “I’m only staying for one” line won’t work when they catch you waving the barman over for another beer and a round of shots.
Having worked in a bar for many years, the things I have seen are sometimes beyond belief. Most nights are business as usual. There will be the odd scuffle, an occasional hilarious exchange, and some outrageous dance moves. However, every so often, something will go down that will be relived during lock-in drinks for years.
- I am sure that 90% of the time, the livestreaming bar is just typical drunk nonsense. However, I would love to see a highlight reel from their 27 years of non-stop bar footage. They would be able to make an entire TV series.
